Why Routine Order Matters
On wash day, the sequence of steps is as important as the products themselves. Applying stylers to even slightly damp hair causes individual strands to separate before the gel can bind them into clumps, creating frizz that no product can fix. Getting the order and wetness level right is the single biggest difference maker for defined, long-lasting curls.
Step-by-Step Wash Day
- Rinse thoroughly until hair is completely saturated
- Apply conditioner generously from mid-length to ends
- Detangle in sections from ends upward
- Rinse leaving a thin conditioner film
- Apply leave-in by scrunching into dripping hair
- Apply gel immediately while still soaking wet
- Plop in a microfibre towel for 15-20 minutes
- Diffuse or air dry completely without touching
- Scrunch out the cast once 100% dry
The Wet-On-Wet Rule
Style your hair while it is dripping wet, not just damp. Soaking wet hair allows curl clumps to form naturally as product is added. Once hair begins to dry, no styling product can bring separated strands back together without causing frizz.
